James and Joyce DeMuth

James and Joyce DeMuth were very proud of being part of the Sperry community. Jim and Joyce, married for over 59 years, were parents to eight children, having moved from Mississippi in 1970. Jim’s career was in agriculture and was well known for improving all herds that he managed as well as serving as a national cattle show judge for over twenty years. Joyce set an example for her children for her unselfishness and caring, always doing for others whenever the need arose. She always followed Jim’s lead and made the “best of it” each time.

One example of Jim and Joyce’s support of Sperry youth, whether in agriculture or in sports, was in working to build and complete the Sperry Field of Dreams.

Jim and Joyce’s wishes for their eight children to have college degrees was attained through their belief that a good foundation, through hard work and support, from their teachers and coaches could and would be accomplished. The “Jim and Joyce FFA Scholarship” continues to be awarded each year, with the help of the Cliff and Helen Grace Herrington Foundation to assist a Sperry High School graduate to further his/her education.
